Why go Skiing in Morzine?

When we're talking Morzine skiing, we're essentially thinking of skiing in the Portes du Soleil, which includes Chatel, Avoriaz and Les Gets. Morzine is the largest of these resorts, centred round a traditional Alpine town, with plenty going on for both adults and children - so great for family ski holidays.

The skiing in Morzine is also the most extensive of the Portes du Soleil ski resorts, which it shares with nearby Les Gets. A car is probably necessary to get the most out of Morzine skiing as it enables you to get to Avoriaz and the main Portes du Soleil skiing more quickly. Probably the best option however if you have accommodation in Morzine is to target the Ardent ski lift which is less crowded than some of the other lifts, and gives you access to the full Portes du Soleil circuit (there is also a handy bar / restaurant near the car park where you can enjoy a beer while awaiting the arrival of all your ski party!). As a resort then, Morzine has a lot to offer, and since Geneva to Morzine takes less than and hour, so it's also a great destination for weekend skiing breaks. One thing you generally must accept when staying in Morzine accommodation is that you will need to travel to the slopes, but this minor inconvenience is, we believe, more than offset by the charm and life of Morzine town, and the pure extent of the skiing you can enjoy in the Portes du Soleil.
